How do we fight the battle of giving up a good thing for something that God says is better? How do we fight the bitterness the pops up its ugly head in our lives. If we were fighting a physical battle, it might actually be easier....if only Mr Discouragement would come to us in a physical form, we could give him a death blow..... but our battles, as New Testament believers, are not in the physical arena, as we sometimes wish, but the battle is in the spiritual arena...in the spirit and the mind.
Jesus is a perfect example of fighting a spiritual battle. Luke 22:41-46, Phil 2: 4-10
Why must we be made conformable to His death? Why must we suffer...not 1 time but many times.
What does the suffering of Jesus teach us:
- It teaches us how to suffer with him
- Causes us to cease from sin and accept the will of God
